AN INNER CITY GYM WITH A DIFFERENCE! At Just Knead It - Sports and Remedial Massage we are committed shifting Australia's attitude towards being proactive towards their health. So we can all live a long, happy and healthy life, doing all the things we enjoy. We get that as massage therapists we are just one piece of the puzzle. It is for this reason that we search out like-minded allied health clinics and facilities that are exceptional and understand what we are trying to achieve. Steve Nichols and his team at 477 Co are one of these groups. He has created a gym that combines exercise, mobility, mindset and nutrition under the one roof. They get that each piece of the puzzle is essential for giving you long term results. That's why we love working with Steve and his team. We sat down with Steve and asked him some questions about his gym, style of training and the philosophy behind 477Co. Have a read! Through the week, our classes include fitness - where we'll use high intensity interval training (HIIT) and conditioning through metabolic exercise (think movements like burpees, jumps & ball squats). We incorporate a lot of strength training as well. Through the week we do an upper body session, lower body session, functional session and a core strength session. We incorporate some recovery at the end of most sessions. We encourage our team to follow the 477 ratio of one fitness: one strength: one recovery How do you bring the other aspects outside of the physical training into your sessions? We recently brought on an Accredited Practicing Dietitian which has been great as I think nutrition is vital to any good training plan. They analyse our clients diets and can give feedback on what's missing (for example maybe you need more protein or fibre in your diet). From there, they can help create meal plans and recipes that reflects that persons goals. As far as the recovery aspect goes, we provide education on how it can improve performance. Our favourite modes are stretching/yoga classes, a pool session or a regular massage.
Mindset is something we are always instilling. Our aim is to leave our community feeling empowered in terms of their health. Making the right choices each day may not seem big at the time. But compounded over an extended period makes for some amazing results. What are your tips around staying motivated for training? I'm a big believer in keeping it simple. We think the more complex it is, the better it must be. I find this leads to burn out and a lack of enjoyment. Apart from that, always have a goal to work towards (doesn't have to be huge). Do what you enjoy. And give group training a try, it's great for accountability and it makes it more fun when you're all hurting together! What is the parking like?!! We always get asked this so thought we'd answer the question for you! 477 Co is in Spring Hill on a clearway from 4 - 7pm however there is ample parking on side streets. It's never taken up more then a minute of two to find a park nearby. Want to know more??
