Do our hands get sore? Yes! But more often than not it's our feet!
Will I be sore after my massage?
Yes! (Sorry!) It is quite common to be sore for a few days after your massage. You can feel tender to touch and this can last up to 4 days. We recommend drinking lots of water and having a warm shower after your massage. If you are in severe pain, it feels catchy or you experience numbness or pins and needles please contact your remedial massage therapist immediately for further advice.

What types of massage do you do at Just Knead It?
To ensure we are the best at what we do we keep our list of services short. We specialise in Deep Tissue, Sports, Remedial and Soft Tissue Massage as well as Myotherapy. We also do pregnancy massage and treatment of kids and teens.
How long before a race/ event should I get a massage?
We recommend getting a massage at least 4 days before an event. This will allow your body enough time to recover from the massage whilst still ensuring you benefit form the affects of the treatment. If you have never had a massage and are looking at getting one before a competition we recommend getting one the week before the event - just to see how you react to massage. It would be terrible to do all that training and feel flat on race day because your body is not used to massage. For more information please see our blog.
Can I claim my Remedial Massage back on private health?
Yes! Just Knead It has HICAPs which allows for 'on the spot' claims of remedial massages and Myotherapy. Unfortunately you cannot claim back on our Standard Massage Therapists. That is why we have dropped their price down lower than our other therapists.
What happens if I don't have my private health card on me at the time of my remedial massage?
No worries! We can email you a receipt so that you can claim back your massage or myotherapy session online. Otherwise you can pop back in with 24 hours and you are able to swipe your health card to claim your remedial massage 'on the spot.'
If I use up my remedial massage or myotherapy allowance with my health fund can I use another person's on the same card?
Unfortunately you can not use another person's massage allowance on the same card if your run out. Health Funds are very strict with this and do regular audits of remedial massage companies in Brisbane. If we allow you to use another person's name we can potentially lose our registration with health funds and no one would be able to claim their back remedial massages. We hope you can understand why we cannot allow you to use another family member's name.
Which is the best health fund for Remedial Massage?
This is difficult to say as even though some health funds give you back more money each time often that amount runs out more quickly. Quite often AHM, health.com.au and NIB give back more than other health funds. However like we said earlier, this usually means that the massage allowance runs out quickly. If you are looking to change health funds specifically for remedial massage have a look at the amount allocated for Remedial Massage (Most allocate between $100 - $200 anything about $200 is good). Think about the frequency that you get remedial massage. Also check to see what remedial massage is grouped with Chiropractics or Physio. (Which ones do you use more? This way you can calculate which fund is going to be the best for you.
'Best Remedial Massage Clinic' in the Brisbane CBD Area??
How do you justify saying that your clinic is better than any other in Brisbane? When our marketing guy suggested we add it in, at first I was dubious! I'd never want for our company to be associated with putting down any other massage clinic or therapist in Brisbane. That is not out stye!

What is the difference between Deep Tissue massage and Remedial Massage?
Deep tissue massage is a remedial massage technique that involves feeling deep into the muscle layers to find any adhesions and break them up. To us these feel like thick nodules of lumpy tissue, which we can often flick over. To you, these are sometimes referred to as 'knots.'
They way the body is made up you have layers and layers of these cells that turn into muscle tissue, that combine to create what most people know as a 'muscle.' These muscles then work in groups often layered one onto of the other to create movement, keep you upright, and protect underlying organs.
If you only ever work on the superficial muscles you miss the ones deeper down which can affect joint range of motion and tightness just as much as the superficial ones. Deep tissue massage aims to go through those first superficial layers of muscle tissue and lengthen the tissue that is deeper down.
As a remedial massage therapist is working through the tissue they are aiming to break up tiny adhesions in the facia that surrounds muscles groups, individual muscles and their components. To us, as we are using deep tissue massage initially the muscle feels difficult to glide through. It's thick and there is great resistance under our hands. As we loosen off the tissue it gradually becomes easier to move through it. We can get deeper and deeper into the muscle layers without causing as much pain and it help to promote better movement at the joint.
Due to the nature of 'deep' tissue massage it can often be quite painful, however the short pain is worth the long term benefits of improved quality and range of movement, deceased pain and tightness and general reduction in the risk factors that can cause injury.

How much is too much massage?
We can't give you an exact limit to the amount of remedial massage that you can receive in a short period of time as everyone is different. It is up to the individual and the therapist to have a look at what is going on and see what is required.
Often there can be some residual soreness after a massage. Your therapist may not recommend having another in close succession as you might be too sore to go over the same areas. If you would like any more information feel free to contact us or give us a call.
